Westwick College operator Christine Lewis has sent lawyer Mwenda Njagi after Teamaster Edgar Obare, for exposing her scam of taking students’ money with promises to take them abroad. The lawyer held a press conference and issued Edgar Obare an ultimatum to apologize and take down the story within a day.
Westwick College students, having paid over KES 500,000, accuse the management of not fulfilling promises to facilitate their overseas travel. Allegedly, the management had students sign Non-disclosure Agreements (NDAs).
Coincidentally, Nurse Judy previously brought attention to Westwick College, a training institution for CNA nurses, stating that it lacked certification. The nurse, based in the United States, mentioned that she could not support Westwick College unless there was evidence of the school effectively facilitating its students’ international transitions.
Christine Lewis Conviction, Filing for Bankruptcy
Christine Lewis’ poor financial track record precedes her. According to Hospice News, the once-administrator of Valley Hospice of Arizona filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2020 after owing 70 creditors over Ksh 404 million ($2.49 million) in debt. The US-based hospice, faced issues of false reporting and advertising irregularities.
Additionally, the Arizona Corporate Commission found Christine Lewis guilty of defrauding investors in a COVID-related investment scam. As a result, the Commission required that Christine Lewis compensate the defrauded investors over Ksh 45.6 million ($283,000) restitution for their financial losses. And pay a Ksh 4.84 million ($30,000) administrative penalty, more akin to a fine, to serve as a punitive measure.
Yvonne Mugure Defends Mentor Christine Lewis
Content creator Yvonne Mugure rushed to the defense of her mentor Christine Lewis despite reports of the latter defrauding Westwick College students and diagnosed the victim as having mental health issues.
“After the student exposed us (Westwick College) to Edgar Obare, we understand that she has mental health issues and has even threatened us as a school.”
Yvonne Mugure said.
