Following backlash in the drama with Kate Actress and Abel Mutua, YouTuber Chebet Rono expressed her aversion to attention. She also appealed for kindness. And cited the impact of negative interactions on her well-being.
“I really hate attention. It’s pissing me off. I feel so bad when you guys are mean to me. It hurts my feelings.”

The controversy began when Rono accused Kate Actress of regularly appropriating her content.
“Kate actress be stealing my content daily.”
Chebet Rono stated.
But, in a swift response, Kate Actress credited comedienne Auntie Jemimah for inspiration. The mother of-two posted Auntie Jemimah’s photo and captioned it “Coolest rich auntie, my inspo.”
Rono further added fuel to the already blazing fire by hinting at exposing private conversations with scriptwriter Abel Mutua.
“Anyway, if I release Abel Mutua’s DM (Direct Messages) to me, lmfaoooo”
She stated.
Comedian Njugush reacted hilariously to Rono’s accusations. He posted a photoshopped picture alongside Rihanna and captioned it.
“Anyway, if I release Rihanna’s DMs to me, lmaooo”
A History of Controversy
This incident is not Chebet Rono’s first rodeo with controversy. In March 2023, she accused Kate Actress and Elsa Majimbo of copying her.
“Elsa Majimbo, say something I haven’t said.”
Rono partly stated.
Kate Actress shrewdly defused the potentially-explosive situation through a mature response.
“We love and want to be Aunty Debs, the rich aunty. You are such an incredible, consistent content creator. I celebrate you Rono. Keep shining.”
Kate Actress stated.
Later, the Gen-Z acknowledged her behavior and extended an apology to those affected by her actions.
“Apologies to anyone I’ve offended I have received a call that has told me the truth let me go on a hiatus and heal again I apologize for my behavior.”
Rono apologized.
