POLICE OFFICERS ACCUSED OF MASTEN’s ESCAPE FREED ON CASH BAIL

Three police officers were yesterday arrested by their colleagues on speculation that they helped the late Masten Wanjala escape from prison. See article.

So Wanjala who met his maker today after an irate mob attacked him escaped from prison under unknown circumstances on Wednesday.

Wanjala was first arrested in July when he was linked and confessed to having murdered 13 minors. And has to been waiting to answer 13 counts of murder.

As a result, upon his disappearance three police officers who were guarding the Jogoo Road Police Station at the time were arrested. And according to the police report, the three were charged for aiding escape from lawful custody and neglect of official duty contrary to sections 124 and 128 of the penal code respectively.

The three were on Friday 15th October, released on a cash bail of 100,000 Ksh each. And have been ordered to report to the investigating officers daily for the next seven days after which the probe will have been concluded.
