Notably, the last time he posted on his Instagram was back in November 2024, leaving fans wondering what has he been up to.

1. Age, Early Life, and Education

Nicholas Munene Mutuma was born on September 22, 1988, in Meru, Kenya,

He grew up in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where he attended The International School of Tanganyika for primary school.

His high school years were spent at Braeside School in Nairobi.

And he holds a Bachelors degree in International Business Administration from USIU in Nairobi, graduating in 2010.

2. Acting Career: The Good and the Breakout Role

Nick Mutuma began his acting career began in 2008, when he was cast as Luka in Tabasamu on Citizen TV. That year, he also starred in Changes on MNET.

But it was his role in MNet’s Shuga, alongside Lupita Nyong’o, that truly solidified his status as one of the top actors in Africa.

In 2013, Nick Mutuma was the highest-paid actor in Kenya.

Nick Mutuma directed, Disconnected and Sincerely Daisy, both of which premiered on Netflix. These films have contributed to his growing international fame.

3. Relationships and Family Life: The On-and-Off Romance

Nick Mutuma was in an on-and-off relationship with actress Bridget Shighadi for 10 yars between 2012 and 2022.

In 2018, the beautiful couple welcomed a daughter, Dua Mutuma.

And they even got engaged and moved in together to raise their daughter. Mutuma even met Bridget Shighadi’s parents.

But they broke up, apparently to focus on their individual lives.

Nick also briefly dated Tanasha Donna for seven months, but their relationship ended in August 2017. And he later rekindled his bond with Bridget.

4. Sexual Assault Claims: The Ugly

Nick Mutuma’s career, while marked by success, has also been marred by controversy.

In 2016, during the Ameru Festival, Nick Mutuma was accused of sexually harassing Rachel Mwangi. According to her boyfriend, Koome Gitobu, Nick joined Rachel and her friends at their dinner table to congratulate them.

He allegedly invited Rachel to his hotel room multiple times and even grabbed her buttocks.

The allegations were made public in November 2017 when Koome Gitobu shared the incident on social media. However, Rachel later clarified that the matter was privately resolved in 2017.

Despite the resolution, the issue resurfaced in 2020, just as Nick’s film Sincerely Daisy was gaining attention on Netflix. A Twitter user, tagged Netflix, linking the allegations to the film.

A frustrated Nick Mutuma responded by expressing how the allegations resurfacing affected his personal and professional life.

In a letter, he admitted he wasn’t perfect but clarified that he wasn’t the person others made him out to be.

Despite the challenges, he was determined to move forward and focus on his career.
