ALEX OLABA JAILED FOR SIX YEARS FOR PLOT TO KILL WITNESS IN HIS CASE

Former Harlequins rugby player, Alex Olaba, was on Wednesday sentenced to six years in jail for attempting to hatch a plot to kill a witness in a gang rape case.

City court Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo in his sentencing on Wednesday, said he had considered Olaba’s mitigation and a probation report tabled in court.

Early this month, the court found Olaba guilty of attempting to kill a key witness in 2021.

Olaba was found guilty of two counts of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to defeat justice. 

Although the accused person is remorseful the offences he faces are serious. l convict and sentence him to serve six years in count one of conspiracy to kill and two years imprisonment in the second account of interference with the judicial process,” Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo ruled on Wednesday, adding that the sentences will run concurrently. 

Court heard that on diverse dates between April 14 and April 22, Olaba conspired to kill K.A and on April 22, 2021, he interfered with the trial process by attempting to cause the death of the key witness.

Alex Olaba is accused that on diverse dates between April 14 and 22, jointly with others not before the court, he conspired to kill one K.A.

He has been facing charges of rape alongside fellow rugby player Frank Wanyama. They are accused of jointly committing the offense on February 11, 2018, at an apartment in Highrise, Nairobi.
