Media Personality Willis Raburu has not yet received the Sh 6.5 million awarded to him in a copyright lawsuit against Airtel Kenya.
On June 12, 2024, Willis Raburu won the case after he accused the telecom company of using his trademark “Bazu” to promote their “Bazu Bundle” plan without his permission.
He argued that this confused the public into believing he had endorsed Airtel’s product, which negatively affected his business.
But Airtel Kenya, denied the claim and insisted that Raburu’s lawsuit was an attempt to gain quick money and lacked merit.
Despite this, Magistrate Rawlings Lilum Musiega ruled in Raburu’s favor, and awarded him a total of Sh 6.5 million.
Why Willis Raburu is yet to Receive the Sh6.5 Million

But seven months later, Willis Raburu, who once struggled with his weight, is yet to receive a dime from Airtel Kenya.
This is because Airtel Kenya filed an appeal in the High Court, seeking to overturn the judgment.
Airtel has asked the High Court to overturn the previous ruling.
The judge will deliver the final decision on whether Raburu will be awarded the Sh 6.5M on March 26, 2025.
