VETERAN JOURNALIST GLADYS ERUDE SUCCUMBS TO CANCER

Veteran radio presenter Gladys Erude succumbed to cancer on Wednesday, 4th August in the USA.

Gladys Erude was a household name in broadcast for nearly four decades. She was among the pioneer journalists at the Voice of Kenya (V.O.K) now KBC.

She served as a presenter in both Idhaa ya taifa and KBC TV.

One of her sons made the sad announcement on social media.

Gladys had worked for the station for about 25 years then retired and ventured into business till 2008. She later moved to the United States.

The journalist had been married at age 20 but her husband died while she was 24. She had a fallout with her in-laws as they accused her of having a hand in her husband’s death. So she relocated and began life as a single mother.

Her former colleagues and fellow Kenyans have eulogized her deeply.

Erude has passed on at the age of 70 and has been survived by her six children.
