VELVINE NUNGARI’S MURDER; MAIN SUSPECT FREED ON CASH BAIL

Velvine Nungari a 24-year-old waitress in Kiamumbi, Kiambu succumbed to spinal cord injuries a few weeks ago.

This was after she went out on a date with one Joseph Murimi, proceeded to a hotel room and the guy abused her sexually. Joseph later left Velvine in the hotel room taking her phone with him.

Velvine later reached out to a friend and asked her to go accompany her to the hospital. She was treated at KU hospital for spinal correlated complications and cervical fractures for a few days then passed away.

Officers at Kiamumbi arrested the main suspect who was charged with rape and released on a 100,000 ksh cash bail.

The murder suspect was later arrested by the DCI detectives based in Kiamumbi. So they held him in custody as fresh interrogations began and a murder file was compiled.

However, in a virtual court hearing session held on Monday 29th March, the court denied the prosecution’s application to continue holding Joseph for the thirty more days.

Joseph was released on a cash bail of 200,000 Kenya shillings.

The chief magistrate Patricia Gichohi who delivered the ruling ordered that Joseph be presenting himself to the Kiamumbi police station every Thursday of the week.

The case will be mentioned again on 29th April 2021.
