Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi could be fired within two weeks if the words of Belgut MP Nelson Koech are anything to go by.

CS Justin Muturi has vocally criticized the Kenya Kwanza government over rising abductions and extrajudicial killings, clashing with President Ruto.

Muturi claimed that his son, Leslie, was allegedly kidnapped on June 22 last year. He claimed the National Intelligence Service (NIS) was behind it and said it took a call from President Ruto to secure his son’s release.

Despite contacting senior officials like the Inspector General of Police and the head of intelligence, none were able to help.

In desperation, Muturi visited the president’s residence and told Ruto his suspicion that NIS had his son. Initially joking, Ruto later called the NIS director, who confirmed Leslie was in custody and promised to release him within an hour.

According to Koech, the CS is daring the president to fire him by speaking against the government he serves. The MP accused Muturi of seeking political mileage instead of addressing issues internally.

Koech suggested that if Muturi was unhappy with the government’s actions, he should resign rather than publicly oppose its policies. He claimed that Ruto is left with no choice but to remove Muturi from office, predicting that the sacking would happen within two weeks.

While Ruto has not commented on the matter, speculation is growing that a Cabinet reshuffle may be imminent, and Muturi’s position hangs in the balance.
