TRANSGENDER PRISONER WHO IDENTIFIES AS A WOMAN IMPREGNATES TWO INMATES

A transgender prisoner who impregnated two inmates was moved to a different New Jersey prison with only male youth inmates.

Demi Minor, 27, who is behind bars for stabbing her former foster father to death, was transferred from Edna Mahan Correctional Facility to the Garden State Youth Correctional Facility in June.

Minor took to her Justice 4 Demi blog to share the “psychological damage” she has experienced. She claimed that she was mocked and strip-searched by prison guards, and spat at by fellow inmates.

She also alleged she was beaten during the prison transfer and misgendered multiple times.

Minor’s transfer followed the discovery last April that the transgender inmate had impregnated two women during “consensual sexual relationships”.

Minor added that she was placed on suicide watch after she tried to hang herself during the transfer.

In June of 2021, New Jersey adopted a policy requiring state prisons to house transgender people according to their gender identity rather than their sex at birth.

The policy was instituted following a settlement with the American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey after a lawsuit was filed by a trans inmate who had been housed in men’s prisons for a year and a half. The policy expired last month after being in effect for one year.

What are your thoughts on this, should transgender people have their own correctional facilities?
