On Friday 30th October, Sportpesa CEO Ronald Karauri announced that the betting firm is back in the Kenyan market.

The firm had been out of business in Kenya since July 2019 as a result of tax disputes with the Kenya Revenue Authority.

The CEO noted that the betting firm had finally acquired the rights to use the sportpesa Brand name in the country.

Ronald also added that SportPesa will focus on upholding the highest standards of service and responsible gaming.

Karauri also indicated that the firm will proceed with its support for local teams. And mostly there will be an emphasis on boxing and football.

“I’ll still talk to them even if they have new sponsors,” he said referring to Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards among the teams he wishes to work with.

The boss added that they will be excited to explore a wide range of partnerships in Kenya over the coming weeks and months. So the partnerships will prioritize the development of sports in communities across the country.
