Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has addressed claims that he was unceremoniously removed from the plane that was transporting President William Ruto and AU Chairperson candidate Raila Odinga to China for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) summit.
According to reports, Sakaja was chased away from the plane just hours before President Ruto and his entourage jetted off to China.
Johnson Sakaja Responds
However, Sakaja has firmly denied these claims, by suggesting that while rumors may stir up some smoke, there is no fire behind them.
While speaking at the inauguration of the “Dishi na County” initiative in Umoja, Sakaja firmly refuted the claims.
“Which plane are you talking about? I was supposed to be in Umoja today, not in China. Those are just rumors,” he said.
Instead, Sakaja emphasized his commitment to Nairobi’s progress, highlighting the launch of 17 new community kitchens across the county.
He also dismissed rumors of a pending impeachment motion, advising his team to focus on their work rather than be distracted by false reports.
