Singer Ruth Matete finally laid her husband, John Olakami Apewajoye to rest.
Ruth Matete’s husband, John Apewajoye, passed on in April after suffering serious burns from an alleged gas explosion.
The body of the former Tusker Project Fame winner’s husband, had been preserved at the Kenyatta National Hospital mortuary where it was taken after the tragedy.
The Nigerian Embassy had asked to have the body detained pending investigations. Until the Nigerian government approves it. But Ruth Matete was finally allowed to bury her husband.
The gospel singer had moved to court in May seeking permission to have the body of her late husband released for burial.
The burial took place on Thursday 23rd July at the Langata cemetery. However, the family of the deceased that is based in Nigeria did not make it to the burial owing to the current travel restrictions due to COVID 19.
