Slain activist Richard Otieno had expressed fear for his life just two days before his brutal murder, his wife Margaret Mwihaki has revealed.
The 31-year-old mother of two recounted the chilling moments leading up to his death.

On the night of the incident, Margaret says Richard called her at exactly 11:36 p.m., asking her to open the door as he was on his way home. Moments later, she and her in-law heard screams coming from outside.
“When we rushed out to check, we found him lying on the ground. He had head injuries and was bleeding heavily,” she recalled, visibly shaken.
Margaret shared that her husband, an aspiring politician and outspoken activist, had been worried about his safety. On Thursday, two days before his murder, he confided in her about being followed by three men on his way home.
“He told me he felt like he was in danger. He mentioned that some people were following him suspiciously,” she said.

The tragedy has left his family devastated, with his sister Roselino Otieno alleging that Richard had been a victim of targeted attacks in the past. She accused area MP Kuria Kimani of being involved, claiming this was not the first time her brother had faced violence.
“We know who is behind this. This isn’t new. My brother was a threat to those in power because he spoke the truth,” Roselino said.
Richard’s political ambitions and vocal criticism of the government had earned him admiration from supporters but also made him a target, his family believes. His death has not only cut short his dreams but also left many questions unanswered.
Adding to the family’s anguish is the disappearance of Richard’s body, which they say was taken by police officers with no explanation.
“Since his death, no investigators have come to our home. No one has told us what’s happening. We feel abandoned, and we want answers,” Margaret said.
As the family continues to grieve, they are demanding justice and accountability. They say they will not rest until those responsible for Richard’s murder are brought to book.
