Homicide detectives have identified Hashim Dagane Muhumed, a 24-year-old, as the main suspect in the brutal murders of a mother, daughter, and 10-year-old niece in Eastleigh.
The DCI released his image following the abduction of the victims on October 21.
The victims—Wasir Daud, her daughter Amina Abdirashid, and niece Nuseiba Dahir—were reported missing on October 21 and were found dead on October 24 in different locations; Bahati, Parklands, and Machakos.
CCTV footage captured a Nissan Note picking them up from their home just hours before their disappearance.
Investigations conducted so far have established that Hashim Dagane, 24, was the one driving the Nissan Note (Reg No. KDQ 718Y)
The vehicle was later found abandoned at Wakulima Market and taken to DCI Headquarters for forensic examination.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Dagane refueled the vehicle after disposing of one body in Machakos County.
Police have detained an accomplice who was in contact with Dagane on the night of the murders. Notably, two individuals from Nairobi’s CBD have been arrested for selling Dagane a mobile phone worth Ksh. 23,000. The suspect had left a woman’s phone number at the shop during the transaction.
The landlord who rented a room to Dagane without official documentation has also been arrested. Detectives are expanding their investigation, collecting evidence from crime scenes in Bahati and Parklands.
The victims have since been buried at Lang’ata cemetery.
The community is outraged and seeking justice for the victims, while police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
