The Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) has warned that there are no spaces left in the ICU (Intensive Care Unit ) in any hospital throughout the country.

Further to this, KMPDU said that ten doctors are already admitted to various hospitals countrywide.

Earlier today Tuesday, 23rd February, the acting KMPDU Secretary-General Chibanzi Mwachonda advised Kenyans to observe the Covid 19 protocols. So as to save themselves and the health care workers.

The rising number of COVID-19 infections has not spared health care workers. Ten doctorscurre are ntly admitted to various hospitals. Yet we are at a point where we may need many doctors in the counties. Said Chibanzi in a press conference.

Mwachonda noted that there is an increased number of healthcare workers being infected.

As a result, members of the public seeking healthcare services in hospitals are advised to observe extra safety.

He also added that the ministry of health together with the county governments should take up training and educating members about the vaccine.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua also took to Twitter to support KMPDU that there are no more available ICU beds. Even though his tweet was received with so much backlash.

The country today recorded 1127 new infections  tested from a sample of 5,390 people in the last 24 hours.
