Just before his death, Dr Laban Kiptoo Langat partied with fellow interns at a club in Nakuru’s London area. And CCTV footage reveals he was alone around 11 pm after his colleagues left. Detectives are now probing the events between his departure from the club and the discovery of his lifeless body the next morning within Nakuru Level 5 Hospital Grounds. Dr Kiptoo was attached to the Margaret Kenyatta Mother-Baby Maternity wing at the hospital since August 2023.
Valid Questions

Reportedly, the 26-year-old Laban was found dead in a trench near the security guards’ station. Were the guards not on duty on that fateful night or did they fail the intern?
And despite the presence of CCTV cameras facing the area, they were reported as defective. Strangely, Laban’s belongings, including his phone, remained intact.
“We do not believe that he was killed outside; the gates are manned by security officials. Where did the killers pass through? These are some of the questions we are asking ourselves. They wanted to just kill him; they did not take anything from him. His phone was found in his pocket. We ask officers to speed up investigations for the family to get justice.”
Laban’s father, Johana Rono stated, raised doubts about the circumstances.

Laban had recently completed his seven-year Medicine and Surgery program at Egerton University in February 2023.
Dr Laban Kiptoo’s Cause of Death

An postmortem conducted by Government pathologist Mr. Titus Ngulungu revealed a startling revelation – the cause of death was manual strangulation, contradicting earlier speculations of drowning. Dr. Laban was discovered dead in the trench.
“As a result of my examination, I have formed the opinion that the cause of death was asphyxia due to compression of the neck,”
Ngulungu said.
