Lawyer Miguna Miguna was on Monday 15th November barred from boarding a flight to Nairobi.
Miguna was deported to Canada about three years ago. And Justice Chacha had ruled that Miguna is a Kenyan citizen. That his rights were violated when he was deported.
On Friday, Miguna had made a tweet saying that he would still fly to Nairobi. Despite the court refusing to lift the red alert prohibiting Air France from carrying him.
Miguna had booked an air ticket to travel from Canada via Germany and France to land in Kenya on Tuesday, 16 November.
However, the lawyer was met by shock in France where he was informed that they could not fly him to Nairobi.
Taking to Twitter Miguna said: This is to inform Kenyans and the world that @airfrance officials at the check-in counter at the Berlin Brandenburg Airport have just informed me that the Government of Kenya sent them a “red Alert” this morning that they cannot fly me to Nairobi. I’m waiting for a copy.
He tweeted
Miguna added that the team said they empathized with him. But there was nothing they could do.
They have refused to state “Red Alert.” But they have indicated that it is obvious and they empathize with me but that there is nothing they can do.
Miguna had also attempted to return to the country in January 2020 but was blocked from boarding Lufthansa Airlines upon reaching Germany due to red alerts
Kenyans on twitter empathized with him and some even advised him to disguise as a woman and sneak into Kenya via Uganda. Addressing the urges, Miguna said that that would be unlawful.
