DJ Joe Mfalme’s hypeman, Allan Ochieng, also known as Hype Ballo, is facing charges in connection with the death of DCIO Felix Kelian Kitosi. The fatal incident occurred following an alleged altercation involving DJ Joe Mfalme, his team, and Kelian.
After a 14-day detention, the prosecutor recommended the release of DJ Joe Mfalme and six others, including three police officers who were on duty during Kelian Kitosi’s arrest. They were designated as state witnesses in the case against Hype Ballo, who is accused of the officer’s murder.
“ODPP has further recommended that the 1st accused, Allan Ochieng, be charged with the murder of the late senior cop. The ODPP has recommended Allan Ochieng to take a plea at Kiambu Law Court and be charged with murder,”
The ODDP stated.

Hype Ballo’s Lawyer Speaks
Following these developments, Otiende Omondi, one of Hype Ballo’s attorneys, denounced the DPP’s decision, suggesting that the true perpetrators were being absolved of their crimes. He alleged that DJ Joe’s release and that of others obstructed justice for Kelian’s family.
“I am very sorry for the family of the late that he lost his life untimely, but we are afraid that he will never get justice because what you are seeing today is already a sham,” Otiende said.
“You are being treated to a sham as a nation whereby those who would help the family of the late to get their justice are already released and have already been turned to be the state witnesses,” he added.
Otiende Omondi further stated, “The one who has been charged today is charged because of his poverty. He comes from Kibera,”
Kelian Kitosi’s Family Protest DPP’s Move
The family of the late officer Kelian Kitosi have opposed the DPP’s choice to free six suspects tied to his murder.
“We have here to follow this matter and we have seen that we are not likely to get justice because when the investigations, when the case is just beginning, and we hear that six of the seven suspects have just been freed,” the family said.
They objected to only one suspect facing murder charges, arguing that multiple people were involved in attacking the DCI detective..
“Our brother did not die immediately. He told us that he was beaten by more than one person. Why has the other suspects been released?” Jackline Koin, the family representative posed.
As the legal proceedings unfold, the future of Hype Ballo, a rising entertainer whose path to fame was closely linked with the renowned DJ Joe Mfalme, hangs in the balance. Meanwhile, DJ Joe Mfalme is fully booked to perform after release from jail.
