Manchester United football club has announced that World’s Best Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has ditched the club by mutual agreement.

The decision to terminate Ronaldo’s contract comes days after a controversial interview with Piers Morgan.

In the viral interview, Cristiano made it clear that he had absolutely no respect for the team’s manager Erik ten Hag. And also criticized various aspects of the team.

Ronaldo said he did not regret refusing to come on as a substitute for the final few minutes in a win against Spurs as he felt Ten Hag had “provoked” him.

He also spoke about how, in general, he felt “betrayed by the club” and, along with his view of Ten Hag, added that he thought he was being forced out of the club.

He also said he had seen “no evolution” at the club since former manager Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013.

In a tweet, the team announced the breaking news thanking the player for his contribution to the team. And wished him and his family well for the future.

Ronald scored 145 goals in 346 appearances for United after joining the team in August 2021- 11 years after he left to join Real Madrid.

Ronaldo speaks

Speaking to the media in Qatar on Monday, where he is set to captain the Portugal team for the World Cup, Cristiano said that he will ‘speak when he wants’.

He had just over seven months remaining on his £500,000-a-week contract with United and his departure leaves him free to sign for another club when the transfer window opens in January. So Ronaldo has kissed goodbye to £16million. Since United have not paid any compensation for the remaining seven months.

“Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early,” said a statement from Ronaldo.

I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge. I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”

Rooney wishes Ronaldo well

Wayne Rooney has labelled Ronaldo a ‘fantastic servant’ to United and wished him well for the future despite their recent war of words.

After receiving criticism from his former team-mate earlier in the season, Ronaldo lashed out at Rooney and branded him a ‘rat’ during his chat with Morgan.

But speaking on live TV with Sports 18 , Rooney said: ‘Am I surprised? No. There was no other choice but that’s a shame because he’s been a fantastic servant to the club. I wish him the best wherever he goes.’

Football fans all over the world are still expressing their reactions about the same.
