It has been barely two weeks since the life of Kevin Omwenga was cut short brutally.

Kevin was shot dead by his friend Robert Bodo using Chris Obure’s gun.

However, Bodo claimed that Omwenga wanted to use the gun for show-off purposes. And when he wanted to go home, he picked him from the chair to his bedroom with the intention to ask him for the gun. So it was at that point that the gun went off and shot Kevin Omwenga.

When Robert recorded a statement on Sunday, August 23, he said that he never intended to shoot Omwenga. And that he had gone to collect a gun he had given him earlier in the day before it accidentally went off.

The two suspects have been held in custody since then undergoing interrogation. And as police continued with the investigation. Detectives figured that a deal had gone sour between the men.

Chris Obure and Robert were presented at Milimani Law Courts.

On Sept 4 the Court ordered mental assessment on businessman Chris Obure and his bodyguard Robert before they can stand trial for the murder of Kevin Omwenga.

Also, the court rejected an application by the prosecution to hold them for a further seven days. As a result, the two will be remanded at Kileleshwa police station.

Justice James Wakiaga ordered that the two be examined ahead of the charges which are set for September 7th.

Kevin has since then been buried at his rural home in Kisii county.
