Activist Boniface Mwangi on Monday 9th August made an announcement that he is resigning from his Ukweli Party.

Mwangi had vied to be the Member of Parliament Starehe in 2017. But he did not win. He, therefore, retreated to being a common citizen who fights for the rights and justice of other Kenyans.

Boniface has also made it clear that he will not be vying again come next elections. Adding that it’s very hard to qualify for public office in this country.

I will not be vying again in the next year’s Elections

The activist added that he went through a very traumatic season during the last elections. And he is still healing and recovering from that experience.

I went through a very dramatic Election and I haven’t recovered from that experience of 2017 Elections. And for the sake of my own peace I would like to say that I will not be vying in the next year’s general election but that doesn’t not mean that I have given up on Kenya

As a result, he is choosing his peace of mind. But that does not mean that he has given up on Kenyans. Seri g that he receives so many messages from people in need of a lawyer, a doctor, etc

Mwangi expressed his regrets about stepping down as the party leader. But was quick to note that he is not stepping down from the truth.

I won’t be stepping down from the truth, I will continue being a member of Ukweli party but not in its leadership…

Boniface added that he believes that change is still possible. And this change will be brought by the young generation.

The photographer mentioned that he has been an angry person. And has been walking around every day angry. And he feels like he is losing his mind.

I walk around every day, angry with the state of this Nation, angry that our kids don’t have good schools in their neighborhoods, angry that being poor is a crime, angry that all of Us are suffering but we bare silent. Am just angry, I feel like I’m angry on behave of the entire country. And so I want to be less angry and take a break from all this

Even Courage takes a rest. So I’m just going to take a rest. He added reminding his fans that he will still be part of this country. He will tweet and share stories when he can.
