Nairobi County Assembly Beatrice Elachi has resigned.
Her deputy John Kamangu has taken over the mantle in acting capacity.
Elachi handed her resignation earlier today saying that in the recent past, there have been life-threatening incidences.
“This is the right time…Last time I left with my head down this time I leave with my head high, without force,” she said.
She has had a continuous scuffle with Nairobi County MCAs.
The most recent incident being the assault of Mlango Kubwa MCA Patricia Mutheu at City Hall barely two weeks ago.

Elachi has been under pressure for the longest time by the MCAs to quit office.
The main reasons for this was alleged abuse of office, militarization of the assembly among other allegations.
The DPP had earlier instructed the IPOA and the DCI to probe the matter and hand over a report to his office for further action.
Elachi advised Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to focus on God and stop intimidation.
“I think I was the biggest stumbling block for the governor but I want to pray for him. Governor, focus on God and stop threatening peoples lives it does not help,” she said.
