Social media detectives who have gone through CCTV footage are labelling one of AKA’s longtime friends Don Design as one of the prime suspects behind the rapper’s tragic death.
South Africans on social media have been clamoring for justice over the killing of rapper AKA, formerly known as Kiernan Jarryd Forbes.
AKA was shot dead on Friday night alongside another man while they were walking towards their car from a restaurant.
“It is with extreme sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved son,” his parents, Tony and Lynn Forbes, said in a statement posted on AKA’s Twitter account. “Our son was loved, and he gave love in return.”
Police on AKA murder
Police said: “They were allegedly approached by two armed suspects who walked to them from across the street and shot the victims at close range.”
Forbes was booked to perform at a club on Friday night, according to the Durban city mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda.
Police said the motive of the shooting was unknown, and an investigation was under way.

CCTV footage of how the rapper was killed has been circulating on social media. Social media detectives who have analysed the footage have come to the conclusion that Don Design, one of AKA’s friends masterminded the rapper’s death. He is a DJ, fashion designer, music video producer, and creative director.
One particular clip of someone analyzing the video went viral. The person explains how Don Design observed for cameras before the shooting, how he saw the first shooter coming towards AKA and was the only person who closed his ears when the shot went off.
As a result, the video drew mixed attentions, with some tweeps saying that Don Design wouldn’t be an accomplice in his friend’s murder. But many wanted him questioned regardless.
