Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor, Engineer John Barorot, has resigned from his position. He made the announcement during a meeting with senior county staff at the Eka Hotel in Eldoret, in the presence of Governor Dr. Jonathan Bii. A formal announcement is expected to be made soon at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters.

John Barorot, who was implicated in the Finland Scholarship Saga, announced his resignation shortly after he dismissed claims that he had quit office.
The claims came up after Barorot notably missed President William Ruto’s event for conferring City status to Eldoret, which sparked speculation about his whereabouts.
John Barorot Resignation Speculation
There has been ongoing speculation about his working relationship with Governor Bii.
Two weeks ago, during a prayer meeting at the county headquarters, Governor Bii told those gathered that Barorot was on leave, saying, “Sorry I forgot to tell you that our Deputy Governor, Engineer Barorot, is not with us here because he is on leave, but we are together in all this.”
Barorot missed almost all preparations for the elevation of Eldoret to City status, except for one event where he praised the media’s role in branding and marketing the new city. Known for his reserved nature and simple lifestyle, Barorot often drove himself around town. When they first took office, Bii and Barorot worked closely together, attending functions side by side.
