The family of 20-year-old Rita Waeni Muendo, the victim in the Roysambu Airbnb murder, disclosed additional information about her murder. Muendo, an incumbent fourth-year student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) student, reportedly left her aunt’s house to meet a friend on Saturday January 13.
And on 5:00AM the next morning, her father received a text demanding a Ksh 500,000 ransom for her release. The family believes their daughter was lured by her killer, who attempted to extort money from them even after taking her life.

Detectives revealed that Rita Waeni Muendo met and communicated exclusively with her to-be killer via Instagram. The two kept up conversation via the app before meeting in person. However, CCTV footage implicated the main suspect, who booked the Airbnb with a fake identity
Nigerian Murder Suspect Arrested
Detectives have made headway into the Roysambu Airbnb murder of Rose Waeni Muendo following the arrest of a Nigerian and two others, in connection with the murder. The Nigerian suspect was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) as he attempted to leave the country for Abuja. And police are seeking information from them to further the investigation.
