CS MAGOHA DEFENDS HIS COMMENT ON GAY STUDENTS

Education CS George Magoha has defended himself saying that he was misunderstood following his earlier comments that students engaging in homosexuality be forbidden from boarding schools.

In December last year, Magoha said all homosexual students should be restricted to day schools closer to their homes

Right now, there are contemporary cases of children who are homosexual and lesbians, they must go to day schools close to their homes. Your responsibility should be for the greater majority and not a few individuals. Do not allow yourself to be intimidated by children,” said Prof Magoha at an address in December 2021.

The remarks evoked different reactions among people. And members of the LGBTQ community earlier this year took to the streets of Nairobi, condemning the directive.

Magoha

Speaking after visiting a class of first level high school students being built at Arya Girls’ High School in Nairobi, Magoha said that gay students should not be in boarding schools. He also said that they should not bother their classmates in their dormitories.

“I said, if you are a homosexual in a boarding school and you are hopping from a bed of another student to another your rights end there,” said Magoha.

Magoha added that you can be a good homosexual who does not disturb anybody. “you go and do your thing when you are out of school.

Th CS argued that he is not against homosexuals. But it would be better to have them close to their parents for supervision and advise.

I am not against homosexuals…That will put them closer to their parents who I think they have first responsibility to talk to them, there is nothing unfair there,” he added.

What are your thoughts on this directive?
