YY Comedian has nothing but good words for his ex-wife, Marya Okoth. She announced their separation almost five years after they got into a relationship.
He recently sat down with Dr. Ofweneke to share his perspective on their relationship following their recent separation.
Reflecting on their time together, YY praised Marya’s potential and discussed how he supported her growth. He recalled meeting Marya when she was studying interior design and pursuing acting.
“I met Marya when she was still in campus. She was into interior design, fine art, and everything. That is what she wanted to focus on. But she was also an actress in KU theatre and drama. She was good at both,” YY explained.

And he decided to invest in her dreams despite financial challenges.
“I spent about 40,000 Kenyan shillings on the early episodes of her YouTube channel,” YY revealed, noting that he believed in her talent even when she was yet to earn from it.
YY Comedian also saw Marya Okoth’s wife potential early on, noting that they moved in together on the first day they went on a date.
YY emphasized that relationships should be based on genuine support rather than transactions. “Do good without expecting anything in return,” he advised.
He underscored the importance of investing in a partner’s potential as an act of belief rather than a financial exchange.
Offering advice to those navigating relationships, YY stressed that while not all relationships last forever, it’s crucial to build an ex-partner to be proud of.
He concluded that breakups should be handled with grace and devoid of bitterness, reflecting his respectful and supportive stance toward Marya despite their separation.
