Actress Marya Okoth got married in a lavish traditional ceremony in Siaya over the weekend to city lawyer Jack Okula.
This comes less than a year after her public breakup with comedian YY, with whom she shares a young daughter.
While Marya Okoth is no stranger to the spotlight, her new husband, Jack Okula, has kept a much lower profile.
So, who exactly is Jack Okula?
1. He Is a Seasoned Lawyer and Government Advisor
Jack Okula is a respected lawyer who currently serves as the Technical (Legal) Advisor to Prof. Julius K. Bitok, the Principal Secretary at the Ministry of Education, State Department for Basic Education.
He has over a decade of experience in legal consultancy and policy advisory, and he’s well-known in legal and public service circles.

2. He’s Highly Educated
As per his LinkedIn profile, Jack Okula has a very strong and diverse education background.
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) – University of Nairobi (2005–2009)
- Postgraduate Diploma in Law Practice – Kenya School of Law (2010–2011)
- Master of Arts in Diplomacy – University of Nairobi (2016–2019)
- Member, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) – Kenya Chapter
He also trained in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), showing his interest in peace-building and justice outside of courtrooms.
3. He Is a Devout Christian
Jack is a faithful member of the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church. His social media is filled with photos and posts related to his church activities and Christian values.
He even holds a church leadership role and recently took part in a camp meeting at Karengata SDA Church, themed “Jesus is Coming, Get Involved”.
4. He’s Also a Businessman
In addition to his legal work, Okula is an entrepreneur. He owns Plato.ke, a stylish restaurant in Upper Hill, Nairobi, which has gained a loyal following since opening in 2020.
He celebrated its one-year anniversary with friends and customers, thanking God for his success.
5. He’s a Big Manchester United Fan
Jack is also a passionate Manchester United supporter. His online posts show love for players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Zlatan Ibrahimović, and Marcus Rashford.

Until recently, Marya and Jack kept their relationship private. They got engaged in May and recently held their traditional wedding ceremony this past weekend . A second celebration followed on August 2, again in Ugenya, Siaya County.
The bride stunned in a leopard-print gown with a dramatic feathered headpiece, while Jack wore a cream traditional outfit. In a separate church ceremony, the couple wore coordinated brown outfits, confirming their union in a Seventh-day Adventist wedding service.
Photos and videos from the event quickly went viral, with fans congratulating the couple on their new journey.
