Roots Party leader and former presidential candidate George Wajackoyah has earned a Ph.D. in Law and Public Policy from Walden University in the U.S.
He is very well educated, which many people may not realize because of his unusual 2022 campaign.

The Wajackoyah unusual manifesto included legalizing marijuana, farming snakes, exporting dog meat, and harvesting hyena testicles for medicine. He said these ideas would help raise money to pay Kenya’s growing debt.
His proposals were so bizarre that lawyer Bernard Okello filed a court petition wanting Wajackoyah stopped from running for president. He claimed Wajackoyah was mentally unfit to hold office and that his words and actions could embarrass the presidency.
But behind the strange ideas is a man with a long and impressive education. Wajackoyah says he has 17 academic qualifications, including law degrees from several international universities.
Wajackoyah: 17 Degrees+

Wajackoyah was born between 1959 and 1961 in Indangalasia village near Mumias. His childhood was difficult. After his parents separated, he was abandoned at age 16 and lived on the streets of Nairobi.
A kind stranger helped him go back to school and finish his education.
He trained as a police officer at Kenya Police Training College in Kiganjo, then went on to study in Kenya and abroad. His qualifications include:
- A Diploma in French from the University of Burundi
- A Bachelor of Laws from the University of Wolverhampton
- Master of Laws from the University of London (SOAS), University of Warwick, and University of Baltimore
- A Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law
- MPhil and Ph.D. studies at Walden University in the U.S.
- Other certificates in refugee law, business law, and U.S. legal systems
Wajackoyah is a lawyer and the founder of Luchiri & Co. Advocates in Nairobi. He has practiced law for over 25 years and also lectures in criminal justice at the United States International University (USIU).
Wajackoyah’s Theory on Robert Ouko Death
Wajackoyah also brought back one of Kenya’s biggest political mysteries: the murder of Foreign Affairs Minister Dr. Robert Ouko in 1990. He claimed that Ouko was killed inside State House Nakuru in front of President Daniel arap Moi. According to Wajackoyah, Ouko was beaten and then shot by Nicholas Biwott, who was the Energy Minister at the time. He said Hezekiah Oyugi, the Permanent Secretary, was also present.
Wajackoyah said the body was then taken about 90 miles and left near Ouko’s farm in Koru. He said he got this information while working for the Special Branch through phone tapping and reading secret files. This story was first published in The Sunday Times on 26 April 1992 under the title “Moi Watched Cabinet Minister’s Execution.”
Seems like there is more than meets the eye where Wajackoyah is concerned.
