News anchor Victoria Rubadiri has disclosed her departure from Citizen TV after six years. The move was revealed by Linus Kaikai, the Group Editorial Director of Royal Media Services (RMS), on Sunday.

Expressing a mix of sadness and pride, Kaikai remarked, “We nicknamed #SundayLive the ‘American Edition’ because this pair rolls Uncle Sam’s tongue just right! Sadly but proudly, Vicky Rubadiri proceeds to her next duty station after 6 years with Citizen TV Kenya.”

Rubadiri initially joined Citizen TV from the Nation Media Group in 2018.

Her tenure at the station was marked by significant achievements, including winning the prestigious Komla Dumor award, which afforded her a valuable three-month assignment with the BBC in London.

Recipients of the Komla Dumor award undergo an intensive three-month training program with the BBC.

Rubadiri’s decision to leave follows a trend of notable departures from Citizen TV. In the past year, fellow Komla Dumor awardee Waihiga Mwaura transitioned to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as a senior news anchor for the Focus on Africa program.

Moreover, Senior Political Editor Francis Gachuri departed to join the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

This year, senior journalists Chemutai Goin and Hassan Mugambi also left their positions to assume responsibilities within different sectors.

Chemutai Goin joined the team of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, while Hassan Mugambi transitioned to a role within the Ministry of Defence.
