Atlanta-based Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee took to Instagram to disclose that she is struggling with postpartum depression.
Postpartum depression is a real issue that barely gets the attention it deserves. It usually develops after childbirth to some new moms. A lot of female celebrities have openly talked about their struggle with the same.

In a short clip seen on her Instagram page, Mrs. Rotimi divulged how PPD has taken a toll on her.
“A lot of people don’t know the struggles of postpartum depression. And what it is like being a new mum. They don’t know that I have had my struggles with depression. I think it is something that needs to be talked about more... She said.
Vanessa added that despite having the emotional support of a partner, the fangs of PPD can still capture you. Even if you have the great support of an amazing partner, I wanna share my journey with you,” Vanessa noted.

Her fans flocked her comments section to empathize with her. And Michele Ntalami was quick to note that depression in any form is not a joke.
Thank you so much for speaking up. Depression in any form is no joke. You got this. Sending you so much love. ♥️ She wrote.
Her fellow Tanzanians however, complained that they do not and can not understand her English. So they urged her to mix up a little Swahili for them to gather what she was saying.

Postpartum depression may be mistaken for baby blues at first. But the signs and symptoms are more intense and last longer, and may eventually interfere with your ability to care for your baby and handle other daily tasks. Symptoms usually develop within the first few weeks after giving birth. But may begin earlier ― during pregnancy ― or later — up to a year after birth.
