Popular Tanzanian artist Vanessa Mdee recently revealed how a top talent manager in Tanzania wanted her to engage in witchcraft in order to work with him.
She shared this shocking revelation on the third episode of her ‘Don’t Call It Podcast.’
Mdee recounted how, a few years ago, she reached out to one of the biggest managers in Tanzania. And she expressed her interest in being managed by him and his team.
But his response shocked her.
“He said to me point blank period, if you come under our management, you have to understand that we do practice cultism, witchcraft, black magic,” Mdee disclosed.
The manager explained that before any music is released, it undergoes a ritual involving witchcraft. “Before the music comes out, we present it to some kind of ritual,” she quoted him.
Concerned and firm in her beliefs, Mdee questioned the necessity of such practices, asking, “Do you not believe in God? Is it not enough?”
The manager justified their actions, stating, “We do, but this is also part of our culture.”
However, Mdee refused to participate, stating, “I said absolutely no.”
Reflecting on the encounter, Mdee expressed her gratitude for her upbringing and the values instilled in her by her parents.
“I thank God Almighty for my parents for instilling in me the fear of God,” she said.
She emphasized that she walked away from the meeting and never revisited that conversation.
