Former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s son, Jomo, has withdrawn a case he had filed against the state over his firearm license.

Jomo Kenyatta, the Chief Licensing Officer, the Firearms Licensing Board and the Attorney General reached an agreement over the gun license dispute and recorded a consent in court.

In the consent adopted by Justice Jairus Ngaah, the matter was marked as settled after the state agreed not to interfere with Jomo’s firearm license.

The state further said they will abide by the procedure set out in the Firearms Act in dealing with Jomo.

The parties further agreed that the Firearms Licensing Board does not intend to withdraw the license and that it will follow the procedure laid out in the Firearms Act, in dealing with Jomo.

By consent, this matter is marked as settled; That the first and second respondents do not intend to withdraw and or interfere with the applicant’s firearm license(s); That the 1st and 2nd respondents shall abide with the procedure set out in the Firearms Act in dealing with the applicant,” read a consent adopted by High Court Judge Jairus Ngaah.

Jomo moved to court in July last year after police officers stormed his Windy Ridge home in Karen and demanded that he surrenders his firearms.

He argued that the move was in violation of his constitutional rights.
