TYCOON EDWARD KIRATHE’S SON DIES IN THE UK

The Kenyan community in the United Kingdom is mourning the death of Christopher Muriithi Kirathe, 20. He is the son of Kenyan tycoon Edward Kirathe, founder and CEO of Acorn Group.

Christopher passed away on 8 October 2025 in Manchester, where he was studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the University of Manchester.

An inquest into his death is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., as family, friends, and community members await answers about the circumstances surrounding his passing.

Christopher’s body was set to be repatriated to Kenya on Saturday, 25 October 2025. Upon arrival, it was taken to Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi. Burial arrangements will be announced in the coming days.

The news has deeply saddened the Kenyan diaspora in the UK, prompting an outpouring of sympathy and solidarity.

Njambi Ruth, a leader within the Manchester Kenyan community, called for unity and compassion during this difficult time.

She said, “It’s heartbreaking to hear about young lives cut short, like Christopher’s. Let’s keep his family in our prayers. We never know what someone might be going through. Let’s be there for one another. And offer a listening ear, show compassion, and support each other through both joy and sorrow.”

Edward Kirathe is a prominent Kenyan real-estate entrepreneur, known for building a significant student-housing and property portfolio in Kenya and East Africa. The family now faces the difficult task of grieving while also receiving public sympathy due to their high-profile status.
