A new exposé has uncovered a second ghost hospital. Trenya Hospital got over Ksh10 million in fake SHA claims. And just after the Ghost Nyandiwa Level 4 received Ksh20 million from SHA.
According to the Rural & Urban Private Hospitals Association of Kenya (RUPHA), Trenya Hospital Limited, is “a hospital in a phone.”
The supposed hospital has no online presence. And the Ministry of Health records place it near Makinda, at Getumbe Junction near Itare Secondary, which is false. Photos show only farmland and a homestead, not a hospital.
Despite never existing physically, it admitted and discharged patients remotely and still received more than Ksh10 million before inspectors from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) shut it down in Kisii.

Brains behind Trenya Hospital SHA Scam
The racket has been linked to Nicholas, a former claims officer in Kisii, and Oyaro, an anaesthetist from Homa Bay.
They allegedly ran operations from personal cars, creating ghost hospitals to cash in on claims. The same group was earlier tied to BFN Hospital in Nyamira, which also received Ksh10 million before being closed.
Investigators say Trenya falsely registered as a Level 3 hospital with 139 beds, yet it had no wards, no theatre, and no medical equipment.
“How can a Level 3 facility claim 139 beds when KMPDC has already reduced most Level 3B facilities?” RUPHA asked.
The association warned that the scam exposes major loopholes in Kenya’s health oversight system. It blamed the failure of promised AI fraud-detection tools, criticised the defunding of KMPDC, and urged the Health Cabinet Secretary and MPs to act fast.
