The Odinga family is mourning again after the sudden death of Adongo Ambala, the stepdaughter of Beryl Odinga. Her passing comes less than two months after Raila Odinga died, and weeks after his youngest sister Beryl, also died.
Adongo worked for the Kisumu County government. She was the daughter of Beryl’s ex-husband, the lare Otieno Ambala, and her mother, Nancy Ambala. She is survived by three children: Iris Apiyo, Sophie Adongo, and Finn Okello.
Her memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Milimani, Kisumu. This will be followed by an overnight vigil at the family home in Chulaimbo. She will be buried on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the family home. Beryl’s funeral will take place the next day.
Beryl Odinga passed away on November 25, 2025, at the age of 78 after a prolonged illness. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi in Bondo, Siaya County. The arrangements were confirmed by her family, led by Raila Odinga Junior, and approved by Senator Oburu Oginga.
Social media has been filled with condolences for the family. Many Kenyans expressed shock at the multiple deaths in the family.
Raila Odinga’s daughter, Winnie Odinga, was seen consoling Beryl’s children, especially her son Tairai, at Lee Funeral Home. Members of the ODM party also visited to offer support.
