This Super Metro stage serves thousands of Nairobians daily, and Adrian says the incident left him dizzy, weak, and struggling to remain conscious.

According to him, the ordeal happened in the afternoon after attending a political event. Since there was no long line at the stage, he stood casually with other passengers waiting for a matatu. While on a phone call, a man approached him, shook his hand, and began speaking in a low voice.

The stranger, described as slightly shorter and about 60 years old, had a strong stench in his breath. As the man leaned in to listen, he suddenly began to feel strange. Within minutes, he started losing consciousness, feeling dizzy, sleepy, and unsteady on his feet.

Sensing something was wrong, Adrian noticed another man standing too close behind him as if waiting to strike up a conversation. By this time, his body was heavy and his legs weak. Realizing he had been drugged, he quickly told a nearby Super Metro conductor, “I have been drugged.”

The conductor immediately took charge, collected Adrian’s phone, and helped him move away. He escorted him to a nearby clinic, where nurses confirmed he had been drugged but assured him the effects would fade with time. He was given some pills and stayed at the clinic for about an hour.

After an hour he decided to board a Super Metro matatu to home. He was lucky to encounter the same conductor who helped him earlier.

“The conductor was very kind,” he said. “He even advised me not to sit at the back of the matatu in case those people were still following me. Instead, he placed me in the front seat next to the driver.”

Despite this, Adrian Oluoch still felt weak and fell asleep all the way from Roysambu to Juja. Later that evening, he shared his story on WhatsApp and Instagram. To his surprise, many people responded saying they had gone through similar experiences in Nairobi.

People Share Getting Drugged Experiences at Super Metro Stage

One person told Adrian they had been drugged in the exact same spot. In that case, the victim was targeted inside the matatu, after an old man with a stinking breathe spoke to, he him lost consciousness and later discovered their laptop, wallet, and phone had been stolen.

Another said they encountered the trick in a different location, where the suspect’s toxic breath was used to make them dizzy.

He explained that such attacks are usually carried out by two or more people. The first person drugs the victim through a handshake or by talking close to their face, while the second follows up to monitor and rob them once they lose control.

Usually, the one who has taken the drug has an antidote so they do not get too affected.

The man is now urging Nairobians to stay alert, especially at busy stages like Archives. He advises against shaking hands with strangers and warns that if anyone suddenly feels dizzy after contact, they should immediately alert those around them.

“Tell the nearest person you have been drugged,” he said. “Hand over your belongings and ask them to take you to safety or to a hospital. If you must board a matatu after such an encounter, sit at the front with the driver and not next to the person you suspect was following you.”

Still shaken by the incident, he admits he never thought something like this could happen to him. But after hearing how common it is, he now feels the need to create awareness.

“In Nairobi, this is the reality we live in,” he said. “I’m still trying to process it, but people need to know and take precautions.”
