Prominent City Lawyer Steve Ogolla has spoken publicly about his separation from entrepreneur and influencer Cebbie Koks. He described the breakup as respectful and free of scandal.
Renewed interest in his private life surged after photos and posts of him with his new partner, Ivy Bavolyne, circulated online. The two were recently spotted together at an LSK event and earlier on a trip to Diani. Ivy, who holds a BSc in Pure Mathematics, has been widely identified on social media as Ogolla’s new catch.
In a brief and temporary online statement seen by this author, Ogolla declined to fuel speculation and asked for decency around the matter. He wrote:
“I have seen renewed interest, rumours and gossip around my marriage. Jewel and I got married in a colourful ceremony full of love and promise. As a rational thinker, I am not permitted, by the rules of decency and common courtesy, to comment substantively on the fate of that marriage.”
He added:
“I have also not asked anyone to speak or comment on the same on my behalf, neither have I supplied facts or ‘tea’ to anyone to drive a collateral social media agenda.”
Ogolla and Cebbie wed on 28 December 2022 in Migori County during a colourful traditional ceremony attended by public figures, including Lang’ata MP Jalang’o, Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei, and lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo. The occasion drew wide attention, with reports of 30 cows offered as dowry.
By early 2024, online signs hinted at trouble. Cebbie removed their photos from Instagram, dropped “Mrs. Ogolla” from her bio, and reverted to Elseba Awuor Kokeyo. She later criticized media intrusion, urging focus on her work rather than private matters.
In October 2024, she confirmed she had moved on, signalling closure.
