A Kenyan nurse based in the United States, Roselyne Oyaro, tragically died mid-flight while returning to the US after a short holiday in Kenya. She died on Saturday, October 4, as she was on her way back to her home in Long Beach, California.

Roselyne had boarded a KLM flight from Nairobi with a layover in Amsterdam. According to friends, she was full of life and excited to return to work. And she even called during her stopover in Amsterdam and promised to catch up once she landed in the US.

Sadly, that never happened.

While the plane was flying between Amsterdam and North America, Roselyne began experiencing health complications.

According to preliminary reports, Roselyne complained she was short of breath, prompting the aircraft to make an emergency diversion to Yellowknife, Canada.

Despite desperate efforts by doctors and paramedics on board to revive her through CPR, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Stanton Territorial Hospital.

Early medical findings suggest pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs) as the likely cause of death, though the final autopsy report is still pending.

Her body is currently preserved at a morgue in Canada, as her loved ones begin the heartbreaking process of planning her repatriation to Kenya.

Her family is appealing for help to raise Ksh3.8m to help bring her body back to kenya.

May she rest in peace.
