Film director Phil Karanja has been trending after revealing his new girlfriend, Mukami Maina.
He made the announcement through his Instagram Stories, and it immediately stirred conversations online. Many fans were curious about who Mukami is and how long she and Phil have been together.
It turns out Kate Actress and her ex’s current girlfriend go way back. Mukami once worked as Kate’s personal assistant.
A Facebook post from 2022 resurfaced, showing Kate Actress celebrating Mukami’s graduation. In the post, Kate called her “my amazing assistant” and praised her for being a strong team player. She also thanked her for supporting her beauty line, House of Humba Cosmetics.
That post has now raised questions about how close the two women once were and when Phil and Mukami’s romance really began.
Some people online believe the relationship might have started after Mukami worked with Kate. Others feel it’s normal for two people who already know each other to eventually start dating. Maybe Mukami was simply there for Phil after his breakup, and things naturally progressed. Either way, the timing has people talking. Though it has been two years since Kate and Phil broke up, it’s giving “your replacement is never far.”
Kate herself has remained calm. After Phil went public with Mukami, she shared a lighthearted video of herself with Mukami at a restaurant.
In the clip, the two looked friendly and relaxed, clinking glasses as they enjoyed their time together. The gesture suggested she holds no grudge against either of them.

Phil and Kate announced their separation back in 2023 after a 6-year marriage. At the time, they requested privacy and have since maintained a cordial relationship. Kate Actress is now in a relationship with Michael Mwangi.
