Machakos County Government has slapped Oga Obinna with a formal demand letter following his interview with comedian Sammy Kioko, who claimed the county owes him KSh 19 million for supplying uniforms.
Kioko explained that he secured an alleged tender with the county and supplied the uniforms with his business partner and sister, Maureen, who has been seriously ill.
He said over the past six months he tried repeatedly to get payment from county officials but received no assistance. Things worsened after his sister developed post-caesarean complications and now requires medical treatment in India.
During the interview on Obinna Show Live, Sammy Kioko became emotional and denied claims that his grievances were politically motivated. “If I were being funded by the national government, would my sister be sick? Would I have sold my car? Would I even be here making noise?” he asked, tears streaming down his face.
He also pleaded with Governor Wavinya Ndeti to meet him and listen to his situation, calling on her to help as a leader and parent.

After the interview, Kenyans showed support by donating over KSh 200,000 to help fund his sister’s medical trip. Kioko and Obinna also reached out to Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, seeking intervention.
Sonko invited Kioko to his office to meet with Governor Ndeti to try to reach an amicable resolution.
In response, Machakos County Attorney’s Office, through County Solicitor Juliet Nthambi, sent a three-page demand letter to Obinna on November 12.
The letter stated that Kioko is not a registered supplier with the county, is not linked to any authorized company, and has no official contract or procurement record. The office also noted that Obinna’s interview caused reputational damage to the county and requested evidence supporting Kioko’s claims.
The case remains unresolved as the county awaits proof of Kioko’s alleged business dealings. Mediation efforts are ongoing, with former officials trying to bring all parties together to settle the matter.
