NTV fires top journalist Ken Mijungu.
NTV like other companies affected by COVID 19 has fired some of it’s workers.
This has come just two days after Nation Media Group announced that COVID-19 had severely affected business.
This comes even after the media house had posted a profit warning of over Kshs 800 million.
NTV news anchor Ken Mijungu on Friday 3rd July revealed that he had been fired by Nation Media Group after seven years.
After seven years..
Ken Mijungu, through a tweet, said that the termination was summed up in a two-page letter. But thanked the media house for the opportunity to work with them.
“The axe fell @NTVnewsroom and I was on its way. 7 years in those corridors summed up in a two page letter of termination.
“We live to fight another day. Thanks to God, He remains the greatest, thank you @ntvkenyafor the opportunity, and thank you for always staying tuned,” Ken wrote.
So Ken was among eight other journalists who were sacked from the Nation Media Group. On Wednesday, July 1, NMG also fired Business Daily Managing Editor Ng’ang’a Mbugua and Daily Nation News Editor Francis Wanyonyi Wambilianga.
Ken Mijungu presented the 9 pm news, AMLive, as well as Side Bar show in which he hosted politicians and top leaders such as The Deputy President.
And of course, his fans have taken to empathize with him and wishing him luck.
Nation Media Group is the third media house to kick out their journalists. Since Mediamax and Royal Media Services recently did the same.
So most journalists who have been sacked have launched personal careers and businesses. Because of the rise in technology.
But as NTV fires Ken Mijungu, a good number of people are convinced that it is because he is the one one who aired DJ Evolve’s story. As a result, Babu owino has threatened to sue the NMG. See https://www.bnn.ke/babu-owino-threatens-to-sue-nation-media-group-over-dj-evolves-story/
