The distressing footage, which went viral on April 29, prompted Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba to take action. She met with the victim on May 1 and reported the matter to Karen Police Station. A concerned Senator Orwoba expressed, “It is so difficult for people to come out even for Pauline to sit here with me as I tell her story. She is completely traumatized from 10 years of violence,”

Confirming Noko’s identity as a foreigner holding a work permit, Senator Orwoba highlighted the severity of the situation, noting that Pauline has children with the assailant. Pauline also revealed threats made by Noko against her and her domestic workers if they testified against him in court.

Further investigation revealed deliberate attempts to delay the case after it was taken up by Karen Police Station. Prompted by Senator Orwoba’s intervention, authorities rectified the setback, ensuring the case swifltly progressed through the legal system.

Senator Orwoba condemned the assault, stressing that there can be no justification for such violence against a vulnerable woman. She pledged to take all necessary measures to protect Pauline and her children from further harm or intimidation by the perpetrator.

Gender CS Aisha Jumwa and Interior CS Kithure Kindiki addressed the matter. And on Saturday, May 4, Nwankwo Noko was apprehended and processed for deportation.

“Action has since been taken, and we appreciate the swift response and efforts made by Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior, Prof. Kithure Kindiki, and Principal Secretary Amb. Prof. Julius Bitok in expediting this process. Nwankwo Noko has been arrested and processed for deportation,”

A statement from the Gender Ministry, signed by Senator Orwoba and PS Anne Wang’ombe, confirmed.
