A CCTV footage has revealed that Albert Ojwang was already dead on arrival (DOA) at Mbagathi Hospital. This directly contradicts police claims that he was rushed there for emergency treatment after collapsing inside his cell.

According to the 40-minute CCTV footage, a police Land Cruiser arrived at Mbagathi Hospital at exactly 1:35 a.m. on June 8, 2025. Inside were three police officers, two in blue, and one in jungle green print uniform.

Two of them alighted almost immediately and were seen having a brief conversation. The third officer, who was driving, followed shortly behind. All seemed relaxed, which would not be the case for a critically ill patient.

As they approached the emergency entrance, one officer received a phone call, prompting all three to step back outside. For nearly three minutes, they remained on their phones, standing beside the vehicle while Ojwang lay unattended in the back of the van.

Despite being brought to a hospital, supposedly in need of urgent medical care, no officer checked on Ojwang.

At 1:40 a.m., two of the officers re-entered the hospital and walked through the corridors, seemingly looking for medical staff. They returned six minutes later, at 1:46 a.m., pushing a white stretcher and accompanied by a hospital security guard.

Even then, it took 10 more minutes to move Albert Ojwang from the police van onto the stretcher. He was finally wheeled into the casualty ward at 1:59 a.m.: a whole 24 minutes after police had arrived at the hospital.

At 2:10 a.m., medical staff confirmed that Ojwang had been brought in dead.

The hospital incident report stated that Ojwang had no cardiac activity, was not breathing, and his entire body was cold. It also noted that he had swelling on his face, bruises, and a deep cut at the back of his head. Blood was observed around his mouth, eyes, and the head wound.

Despite police claims that he was injured after hitting his head in a cell, the visible trauma and delay in seeking care have raised serious public concern.

At 2:15 a.m., just minutes after he was declared dead, the officers wheeled Ojwang’s body out of the hospital and left for City Mortuary, where his body was formally received and later identified by family.
