David Oyando, popularly known as comedian Kendrick Mulamwah, recently shared insights into his flourishing career as a digital content creator, emphasizing that his success in content creation surpasses what he could have achieved in nursing.

Reflecting on his journey while speaking to Nairobi News, Mulamwah expressed confidence in his decision, stating, “I don’t regret anything because I have achieved so much in a short period of time through content creation. I don’t think I would have achieved as much in nursing, but I also believe that talent and education go hand in hand.”

Mulamwah stressed the importance of education alongside talent, highlighting that “Talent without education is not enough. You will still suffer because you need the knowledge to read contracts and interact with your fans. Education is the first thing you should get.”

In terms of earnings, Mulamwah revealed impressive rates, charging from Sh100,000 per post in a week, with some posts fetching as much as Sh200,000 each, depending on the platform and contract length. He added, “At the moment, I have countless brands that I work with.”

Offering advice to aspiring content creators, Mulamwah emphasized the importance of copyrighting their work, cautioning against overlooking this crucial step.

“Many artists overlook this crucial step, leaving their content vulnerable. It is very easy to earn nothing when your work is out there. Focus on your work and make sure you invest,” he advised.

Why Mulamwah Uses Matatus

Despite his success and owning a Mercedes Benz, Mulamwah remains grounded, often utilizing matatus as his mode of transport to glean inspiration from interactions with people.

He explained, “That’s part of where I get my ideas for content. Interacting with people helps you understand life from all angles.”

Looking ahead, Mulamwah expressed his desire to be remembered as someone who started from scratch and made something of himself, showcasing his journey online to inspire others.

He said, “My legacy is to be remembered as someone who started from scratch and made something of himself. I want people to see and appreciate my journey, which is why I showcase my investments online to inspire others.”
