Lucy Wamaitha, a 32-year-old woman, was brutally murdered after going on a work trip with her boss. Her tragic death has left her family in shock and sparked outrage across the country.
For months before her disappearance, Lucy had been uneasy. She had confided in her mother, Nancy Wambui, that she felt unsafe at work and feared she was being set up. In October 2024, she even asked her mother to pray for her, saying she had a bad feeling.
On January 16, 2025, Lucy left for Embu with her boss and a colleague for a work assignment. But she never returned home.

Her boss later claimed they had traveled back together and that he dropped her off in Thika. However, investigators found gaps in his story—her phone had gone off while she was still in Embu, contradicting his claims.

Lucy Wamaitha Gruesome Murder
Days turned into weeks with no sign of Lucy, and her family was desperate for answers. Then, on January 22, a gruesome discovery was made. Dismembered body parts were found dumped in River Sagana. The remains were so badly mutilated that identification was impossible without DNA testing. The head, hands, and legs were missing.
Around the same time, detectives searching for Lucy found her handbag and ID in a thicket near where her body was dumped. The findings deepened the mystery and raised even more questions about what had happened to her.
Her mother was asked to provide a DNA sample, and after weeks of waiting in agony, the results finally came back. On March 21, authorities confirmed that the body parts belonged to Lucy.
As the investigation unfolded, disturbing details emerged about Lucy’s workplace. It was revealed that her boss had a romantic interest in her. A friend recalled an incident at a party where he had caused a scene after seeing her dance with another man. Even more troubling, there were reports that Lucy had reported him to donors for misusing funds meant to educate underprivileged children. This raised questions about whether her death was connected to her whistleblowing.
Following her identification, her boss—the last person seen with her—was arrested. Authorities are now investigating his past, with reports suggesting he had a history of aggressive behavior toward women. He remains in police custody and is expected to face murder charges.
Lucy’s death has caused widespread outrage, with many Kenyans demanding justice. Her family, especially her mother, is heartbroken and determined to ensure that those responsible for her brutal murder are held accountable. The prayers Lucy once asked for have now turned into a desperate plea for justice.
