Veteran journalist Larry Madowo has landed a new role at CNN.
According to CNN, the international correspondent will now host the ‘African Voice Change makers.’ And it will mainly focus on newsmakers across the continent.
While announcing his new role, Larry said the opportunity is surreal as he was first featured on the show in 2017 speaking about his work as a Kenyan journalist.

“Some personal professional news: my role at CNN is expanding. I’m the new host of African Voices Changemakers. I was featured on the show in 2017 so it’s surreal to be taking over Tell me your stories,” he tweeted.
I care about accurate representation of Africa and Africans in global media and I’m glad to have another avenue to do just that. Please let us know who/what we should feature, and hold us accountable when we fall short, he added.
Since joining the international network in 2021, Larry has covered a wide range of news stories around the globe, including flooding in Nigeria, and coronavirus vaccine inequality and covered the August 2022 polls.
“He has also broadcasted from Expo 2020 in Dubai and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, reported from the World Economic Forum in Davos and anchored news shows from Atlanta,” the statement by CNN read.
Congratulations Larry.
