Salome Wanjiru, the woman who stabbed her boyfriend, Conrad Nyabuto, says she acted in self-defense.
Nyabuto, an ICT Specialist, had gone to Wanjiru’s house in Ruiru, Kamakis on December 17, 2024, intending to end their troublesome relationship.
Sadly, their disagreement escalated fatally, leaving Nyabuto dead with 27 stab wounds.
Nyabuto’s body had cuts on the chest and his throat was slit.
Nyabuto’s father does not believe the self-defense claim. “Twenty-seven stab wounds is not self-defense. That is like killing a wild animal,” he said.
The family is devastated and wants justice for their lastborn son among three children.

What Happened
When police arrived at the scene, Salome Wanjiru, 24, refused to open the door.
It took officers two hours to break it down.
Inside, they found Nyabuto dead from blood loss. The girlfriend had slit her wrists in an attempted suicide and was lying next to his body.
The delay in entering the house may have cost Nyabuto his life. The severity of his injuries made the girlfriend the main suspect.
The Family’s Fight for Justice
The family believes some influential people may be interfering with the investigation.
“All we want is justice for our son,” said Nyabuto’s mother.
She is frustrated by the slow progress of the case and hopes justice will bring them some peace.
The girlfriend is in police custody and is expected to take a plea in the Thika High Court.
The family is worried the case might take too long, even with the evidence against her.
