KOFFI OLOMIDE HIT WITH A LAWSUIT AHEAD OF ‘THE PEACE CONCERT’

The ghosts of Congolese famous singer Koffi Olomide are haunting him. The 67-year-old is the subject of a seven-year Koffi Olomide lawsuit while in Kenya. And it comes at a time he is getting ready for the ‘The Peace Concert.’ A December 9 events organized by the Aces & Light Company Limited.

Now, Koffi Olomide is dealing with a lawsuit from Jules Nsana and Noah Auma Muga of Nsana Productions. The two served Koffi Olomide with a demand letter, seeking over Sh10,000,000 as compensation for breach of contract.

The legal woes haunting Koffi Olomide trace back to 2016. Kenyan authorities deported him over assault allegations involving one of his dancers. As a result, the singer failed to perform. Now, Nsanga promoters maintain that they diligently fulfilled all agreed commitments. Such as covering deposits, transport and accommodation costs. The unresolved financial dispute lingers since 2016.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the upcoming ‘The Peace Concert’ hangs in the balance. The December 9 event advance tickets cost Sh6,000 and Sh7,500 at the gate. VIP tickets go for Sh25,000.

The 2016 incident is not Koffi Olomide’s first run in with the law. In 2012, he got in trouble in the DRC for hurting his producer and got a three-month suspended prison sentence. In 2008, a cameraman accused the musician of kicking him at a concert in Kinshasa. And breaking his camera, but they later reconciled.

Koffi Olomide’s Legal Team Responds

Prof. George Wajackoyah is part of Koffi Olomide’s legal team that dismissed the allegations. Conrad Law Advocates LLP and Luchiri and Company Advocates released a press statement which termed the lawsuit demands unsubstantiated and unmerited.

“The event organiser stands resolute in dismissing the baseless allegations recently brought to light. The accusations against Koffi Olomide have been thoroughly reviewed and found to be frivolous, vexatious and without merit or substance.”

The Press Release stated in part.

Whether Koffi Olomide will perform at the peace concert, remains to be seen.
